This beats of a vehicle was based on the Tiger chassis, being one of the few chassis able to support the structure of the casemate.
The Sturmtiger had a 380 mm Raketen-Werfer 61 L/5.4 breech-loading rocket launcher with shells measuring 1.5 metres in length and weighing almost 900lb. A crane was fitted in order to move the shells.
Only 19 models were built between October 1943 and January 1945. Seven were deployed during the Battle for the bridge at Remagen, two saw service in the Warsaw uprising and two in the Ardennes offensive.
The vehicle had a crew of four; driver, commander, gunner and loader.
