The M4 Sherman Kangaroo was basically a Sherman with the turret removed. It was used as an armoured personnel; carrier by the British and Canadians. Being a cut down Sherman it was able to go anywhere the tanks could go and thus the tanks could always have infantry support.
The M4 Kangaroo first saw service in France 1944 at the Falaise Gap. It had a crew of two and could carry 210 troops. It was armed with a .3 inch M1919 or a .5 inch Browning machine gun.
