The 222 was a light armoured reconnaissance vehicle produced between 1937 and 1943 and around 990 222s were produced.
It had a 2cm KwK 30 L/55 auto-cannon and an MG34 machine gun. In 1942 the main gun was replaced with a faster firing 2cm KwK 38.
Top road speed was 50mph.
