The Sdkfz 251 was the Hanomag halftrack armoured personnel carrier which served in all theatres throughout the war. The 251 came in at least 22 different configurations with four variants, Ausf(uhrung) A, B, C, & D for different roles.

This model is the 251 Ausf D/23 which was a reconnaissance vehicle designed to replace the Sd.Kfz. 250/9. The turret contains a 20mm QF autocannon.

The 7 was an assault engineer carrier. It was able to carry bridge ramps.

This vehicle is a light armoured ammunition carrier. It used the same chassis as the Sd.Kfz. 250 and weighed 5.73 tons. It was manufactured in 1940 and 1941. t was armed with an MG34 machine gun.

The vehicle saw action on both Eastern and Western fronts and was often used in conjunction with an ammunition trailer capable of carrying an additional 36 75mm rounds.

It had a crew of two and was capable of 65kph.

Thus vehicle represents an 251 converted to carry a turret from a French R35 tank. There is photographic evidence of at least one unit which was captured from the Germans and used by the Free French Forces in 1945.

It was developed after the 1941 invasion of Russia to cope with the ice and mud. Some 1,480 Sd.Kfz 4s were built.

It was armed with an MG34 or 42 machine gun.
