The BRDM 2 is a Russian amphibious reconnaissance vehicle. It is currently still in service having been as such since 1962. Production ceased in 1989 although some are still apparently made in Poland.
It has been used by 38 countries and some 7,200 have been built.
The BRDM comes in many variants, mostly with a turret and some kind of armament, however the UM version was a command vehicle which carried a 1KW generator and extra radio equipment.
